Pills Profits Protest - Voices of Global AIDS Activists
Pills Profits Protest is an up-to-the minute documentary film about global AIDS activism and access to HIV drugs. Directed by Ann T Rossetti, Anne-christine d'Adesky. Produced by Action=Life. The movement began in the summer of 2000 at the International AIDS conference held in Durban, South Africa. The global AIDS movement represents one of the most successful political movements in contemporary history and has produced a new generation of activists coming-to-power. But in every country, the hurdles are enormous and resources are limited. From Durban, South Africa to AIDS hot-spots in Uganda, Haiti, India, and Brazil, PILLS PROFITS PROTEST witnesses the critical junctures in the battle for access to HIV treatment. Through issues of poverty and socioeconomic justice we examine what is the potential of the international grassroots effort to help secure human rights for the poorest of the poor.
